Legion of Los Angeles

Legion of Los Angeles

I’d heard there was a race being held in Dominguez Hills, and I decided to ride there to check it out. Prior, I’d spoken with the local Rapha Cycling Club coordinator and I planned to meet him at the race today to check out the scene. I would also get the chance to hang out with L39ion Los Angeles, a local team supported by Rapha and who I look up to as an example of where I’d like my cycling to go.

I’d always heard that L.A. was a physically big place, and today I found out that it’s true. I rode for what seemed like hours by the coast, along bike paths that seemed to go on forever.

I finally rolled up to the race and found the Rapha tent. I helped them set up and then took a seat as we waited for the L39ion L.A. team to arrive. While we waited we watched the other fields race.

It was great to be around the race scene. I don’t start racing until late March so it’s good for me to be around the community and energy to keep me motivated until I start. It wasn’t all about the racing though. I got the chance to make a bunch of new friends and have amazing conversations. Of course, I also got to take some amazing photos behind the scenes with Legion of LA; I’m grateful for the opportunity!
